Mary of Guelders grew up in the Burgundian court, basically the coolest place in Europe in the mid-1400s. Now, at fifteen, she's being shipped off to marry the teenaged king James of Scotland. Which is great, right? Gonna be a queen!

Scotland is cold and poor and she barely speaks the language and everyone's manners are so rough and also they didn't really warn her that her husband has severe waking nightmares? And he doesn't really want to do king things? Or have her there...?

Whatever. Mary is very brave, and Scotland is her home now, and she's friends with the king's sister, and she is going to have a good time and be queen dammit.
